New York Beauty Workship - August 22, 2015
Fifteen ladies enjoyed cutting, stitching, pressing, and oh, yes, lunch!
Sue Garrison was making her first New York Beauty. She's done foundation paper-piecing before.
Her take on this project? "Very fun!"
There were lots of stitchers there, and everyone has their own way of putting those fabrics together.
Gloria Stewart took us on a step-by-step.
Later, she was asked why she decided on the NY Beauty. She laughed and said "Kathy Skinner made me do it! She came into the shop and said 'I want to learn it and you're going to teach it!'"
Gloria has made two or three NY Beauties. This is the third time she's taught it.
. She's made a table runner and a wall hanging, and hopes to someday make a queen-sized quilt.
It's a beautiful pattern and looks complicated, but don't let that stop you!
Gloria says that it's the paper-piecing technique that makes it possible for even a beginner to start a NY Beauty.
Once they've done one, just repeat!
Eventually you can make enough for a bigger quilt.
